4 month stats!

**There is no adorable 4 month picture today.... I forgot to do it before we went to the pediatrician, and he is currently sleeping. We will probably wait so we have a happy baby for the picture :)**

We had Kayden's 4 month appointment today! He did great... but we did have the dreaded 4 month shots. I left the room to fix a bottle so I wouldn't be in the room when they gave the shots. I bawled last time and really just didn't want to be in there when they did it. Nick was in there with him and can handle it so I left. But it didn't help. Let's just say... Kayden has lungs and he was not afraid to use them. I was in the bathroom around the corner and could hear him screaming. I almost lost it in the bathroom because he was screaming so hard. Nick said Kayden's face turned red, and didn't breath for a second and then all of a sudden let out the loudest scream and he just continued screaming. POOR BABY!!! I came back in and he was still crying so I gave him the bottle and he calmed down. Miserable! I'll be happy when we get to the point where he doesn't have to have shots every 2 months! I felt so bad for him and Nick said Kayden looked at him like nick was the one that gave him the shots so Nick kept saying i wasn't the one to give you the shots! haha. Poor Kayden looked so hurt afterwards. I think these were even harder than the 2 month shots!

We also got the all clear to start solid foods! EEEEEKKK! My baby can start eating REAL food?!?! NO WAY! We probably won't actually start giving him anything for another month but just the fact that he COULD have real food blows my mind! We obviously start with cereal and then he said we wait 4 days and can start vegetables, waiting 4 days to introduce each new food. I will probably wait a little longer with the cereal though. I'm thinking we may start cereal around 4.5-5 months and then probably won't start vegetables until closer to 5.5-6 months. When we do start... trust me there will be pictures! and videos! and a blog post! :)

Now for the stats:
Height: 25 inches (average for babies his age)
Weight: 13 pounds 1 ounce (25 percentile)

We have a tall skinny boy. He is staying with his growth curve or whatever so the doctor isn't concerned about his weight. He said he is just fine! just a skinny little boy! :)

2 month stats!

At Kayden's 2 month appointment (yes a week ago... i'm a little behind) he weighed 10 pounds 12 1/2 ounces and was 22.5 inches long. He's in the low percentile for weight (our pediatrician doesn't do percentiles but I found a percentile calculator online) but I kind of expected that, especially for his weight since he was only 6 pounds when he was born. He's just going to be tall and skinny.... but we already knew that would bet he case as he really didn't have much choice.

He also had to get his first round of shots. Poor thing! He screamed when they gave him the shots but he was fine and smiling once they were over... before Nick even picked him up. I couldn't handle watching so I sat in the chair away from the action and then went over there when they were finished. He took the shots like a champ... mommy on the other hand did have a tear or two roll down her face. I just couldn't handle hearing my baby cry like that in pain. I know it's for the best though!

The night of the shots however was a bear! The pediatrician told us not to give him tylenol unless he runs a fever or is extremely fussy as studies have shown tylenol to interfer with vaccinations. He slept for most of the time after his vaccinations, but when he woke up he screamed and screamed and screamed. There was nothing I could do to calm him down and he would barely eat. I decided to give him some tylenol as this qualified to me as extremely fussy. Less then 10 minutes later he was back to sleep peacefully. The next morning, he woke up his normal happy self! Thank goodness!

I'm already dreading the 4 month shots :(

Kayden's 2 month letter will be up shortly... it's in drafts right now as I'm not completely finished with it :)

2 week check up

Kayden's 2 week check up- weight 6 pounds 14 ounces height- 21 inches
My dad went with me to his 2 week check up since Nick had to work. Our pediatrician, Dr. Ramsey was my dad's pediatrician, my pediatrician and now Kayden's pediatrician. He wanted to get a picture with the 3 generations :)

Kayden's umbilical cord was still attached at this point so the dr put some stuff on it to help dry it up. Within the next 2 days it fell off so we were able to give him a real bath. This one went much better than the sponge bath. I think the water helped keep him warm this time.

4 day check up

At 4 days we went to the pediatrician to make sure Kayden was growing and gaining weight... and he was. When we left the hospital he weighed 5 pounds 13 ounces. When we went to his 4 day check up he weighed 5 pounds 16 ounces. He had also grown an inch... but we just think that's from where they had a hard time measuring him at the hospital. He also had to have his first shot :( We declined the hep b shot at the hospital because I was just really overwhelmed with everything and so we decided to go ahead and get it at the pediatrician at this visit. He did well, but held his breath right after the shot to where he didn't breath for a second which freaked me out!
