Nursery!

Today we started on Kayden's nursery! Nick's mom came over and helped paint. The smell was pretty overwhelming so I didn't get to see the paint color until it was all up on the walls. I was really worried that I would not like the color up on the walls once it was up but I really do like it, especially with the bedding. Skye also enjoyed watching the paining process. He did very well about not going in the room and just laid down in the hallway so he could still see what was going on! We put the crib up and put the bedding in it! We still want to do a lot of decorative things such as painting some things on the wall, putting Kayden's name up on the wall along with window treatment and all that jazz so it's no where near finished but we have a start at least! I can't believe that in 3 1/2 months there will be a baby to put in the nursery!

Books

So.. I'm lazy and do not feel like getting up to get a paper and pencil to write this down and I know I will just lose above piece of paper so writing it on the blog will be the safest place. The youth minister at our church just found out that they are having another boy. (They have one already, adopting 2 from Ethiopia, and expecting their 4th boy in october). He recently asked for advice on parenting books and a lot of people replied about "boy" specific books so I am taking notes so I can remember what books to get! Yes... this is a very random post!

- Bringing Up Boys by James Dobson
- Parenting By The Book by John Rosemond
- The Well- Behaved Child by John Rosemond
- The Strong Wild Child
- Modern Day Knight
- Creative Correction by Lisa Whelchel

I'm sure there are many more but along with the new parent and sleeping books I'm not sure I will be able to get to them all before the baby is born :)

It's a boy!!!

Of course it was... who would have thought differently :) Kayden James will be here sometime at the end of September! He was being quite stubborn today for the ultrasound tech. He had been moving all morning and I told Nick that he was not going to move at all when we went to the appointment. Luckily it was not hard for her to find his "boy parts" but for all the other pictures she was trying to get... he would not budge! She was shaking and poking and prodding, to the point I almost felt like I was going to throw up. He finally moved a little for her and then he stretched out his leg really long! She said everything looked great! I have a placenta that is on the top of my stomach (an interior placenta or something like that) which is why I had just recently been able to feel him move. I was really worried for a while because most people had said that they felt the baby move for the first time around 16 or 17 weeks, but I hadn't really started to feel him until this past week, and then I still really wasn't sure it was him. He has become more active over the past couple of days and I can tell that it's him now though. She said that because of the positioning of the placenta, he was most likely kicking that to where I wouldn't be able to feel it and that he finally moved recently to where he is not kicking that. It was hard for her to get a profile to because any time he turned his head he would hit the placenta so she really couldn't get a clear profile picture, but there is one that I can definitely tell is a head and a nose :) He's pretty cute if I do say so myself!... 20 more weeks to go until we meet the little guy! I can't wait!

1 more day!

Only one more day until we find out if it's a boy or a girl! The anticipation is killing me! I'm also starting to be able to tell that the baby is kicking so that's pretty cool. At first I wasn't sure if it was the baby or if it was just something else, but it's starting to be more consistent and I'm pretty sure it's the baby :)

1 more week!

One More Week until we find out if we are having a boy or a girl... I can't wait! Everyone I know due in September (which is at a count of 6 right now) is having a girl.... except one. She found out today she is having a boy. If we are having a boy... those two boys will have quite a few girls to choose from come (20) years from now :) I don't know if I can wait one more week!!!!

Should Have..... and the most embarrassing moment!

I should have done the gender test at baby belly at 16 weeks... it's driving me crazy the fact that I still have to wait 2 MORE WEEKS! before I know if we are having a boy or a girl. It doesn't help that I have been literally stuck in bed for the past 3 days with a horrible sinus infection and it has really made the days CREEP by. Ugh May 4th can you PLEASE just hurry up and get here!!

Now for my most embarrassing moment. I always hated when you would go to a new class or have those "get to know you" games that you would have to play some where and the question is "What is your most embarrassing moment." I know I have had tons... but never embarrassing enough to actually remember after a couple of weeks have passed. I never would have anything to say to this question. However, I do now... even though I'm sure like the rest it will too pass and when asked the question, I won't be able to think of one. But, for right now, it is definitely engraved in my mind.

Like I said, I have had a pretty bad sinus infection for the past couple of days. I have called the doctor's office several times and I am waiting on my doctor to get a chance to look at my chart and get me an antibiotic. Anyways, I was feeling a little better on Monday (or so I thought) and decided to at least try and head to school for a couple of hours, hoping that once I got there I would start feeling better and be able to stay. Well, I made it to 10:30... and that's when it happened. All of a sudden I had this sudden urge to throw up. I knew I was not going to make it to the bathroom so I ran to the trashcan that is in THE FRONT OF THE ROOM. UGH! I puked in front of my entire 5th grade class. If I could have just waited 10 more minutes, the kids would have been in specials and none of them would have seen it. But no, I had to right then. The annoying thing, none of the kids even noticed at first. They were doing a group activity and were paying no attention to the fact that I just puked into the trashcan..... until the kid sitting next to the trashcan felt the need to announce to the whole entire class.... "Mrs. Cooper just puked!!" I mean really?! So then the entire class got quiet and I just proceeded to grab my things and leave. So embarrassing!! :)

16 weeks!

Tomorrow I will be 16 weeks along! I feel like it has gone by so slow and so fast at the same time! I just keep thinking, in 4 more weeks I will be halfway through my pregnancy already.... but then September sounds sooo far away! I think I will really start feeling like things are flying by once school is over and I won't be focused on other things.
I went to the doctor today and found out that my child really likes to scare it's momma! The doctor came in and it seemed to take her forever to find the heartbeat! I try not to look at the doctor's face because if she is going to tell me bad news, I don't want to see it on her face first. But she did eventually find it, on the complete opposite side that it was on last time and SUPER low down. Once I heard it, I breathed a huge sigh of relief and then said wow it's down there really low and that's when she said "it's probably a boy"...
Now, don't get my wrong. I will absolutely love this baby whether or not it is a boy or a girl. I know there are so many people out there who struggle with having children or can't have children that I am so grateful God has blessed me with being able to have children, but I was hoping for a girl. There has not been a girl born on Nick's dad side of the family for a hundred years or some crazy amount like that so we were really hoping to maybe have the first girl in the family after so long. So hearing her say that it's probably a boy, just made it seem so real. I know we haven't had an ultrasound to prove that it's a boy yet but I'm pretty certain that it is. I have always said that I wanted a boy first because I LOVED having an older brother, so I am very happy that when we do get a girl (because Nick said no matter what we will eventually adopt a girl because he really wants a daughter), our daughter will have an older brother like I did :) It really is awesome having an older brother so I will be very happy if it's a boy too!
4 more weeks until we know for sure though... thankfully I have 4 more weeks until school is out too so hopefully that will make things fly by!
